Jules Prast


Jules Prast (1961) is a Dutch author, columnist and blogger.

He graduated from university with master’s degrees in modern history and mass communications. While in university he also worked as a journalist.

During his military service as a reserve officer in the air force he taught future leaders about defence and security policies.

Subsequently he worked in communcations positions in the Ministry of Finance, ABN Amro (global head of media relations) and Philips (global head of communications).

Due to sarcoidosis, a chronic inflammatory disease, he had to cut short his career and change course in life.

Now fully disabled, he leads a life of resting and writing. After falling ill he started meditating and embraced Zen Buddhism.

Disease and buddhism are recurring topics in his blogs and columns. In 2018 he authored a book about nineteenth and twentieth century Dutch press history.
